Scientists from France conducted a study, in which they found out the causes of premature death of people suffering from liver cancer. The researchers found that chronic hepatitis C is affecting this factor. The patient can avoid death by using antiviral drugs for direct exposure.
Over 10 thousand people agreed to take part in the experiment. Seventy-five percent of subjects took direct exposure to antiviral drugs. If we talk about the rest, they did not receive any medical means. Deaths were reduced significantly in the first group.
The results of the study showed that antiviral treatment is associated with a reduced risk of death and hepatocellular type oncologists. Initially, scientists noticed an increase of indicator, but after taking into account such factors as BMI, gender, age, disease severity, ways of infection, it decreased.
Professor Fabrice Karrath, who works at the Sorbonne University, noted, that experimental results provide an opportunity to assess the impact of antiviral treatment of patients with hepatitis C. The authors believe that this therapy should be applied to all patients who are diagnosed with hepatitis.
